Campbell & Syme Coffee Roasters

Joe Syme opened the first Campbell & Syme shop in East Finchley in October 2012, after falling for the coffee culture of Portland, Oregon and starting to roast beans for farmers markets. For a while the cafe doubled as the roastery, with a 6kg Giesen installed inside, and the room became a place for public cuppings, workshops and long conversations with regulars.

Bara arrived as a volunteer and went on to become co owner, and Ben walked in asking to learn about roasting and rose to head of coffee and co owner too. Roasting has since moved to a larger roastery in Kings Langley, but Fortis Green remains the flagship, with single origin espresso and a handful of filter coffees that change with the harvest, and beans to take home.
