Brunswick East

The outdoor courtyard at Brunswick East with long wooden tables, white stools and cream parasols, diners seated in the sun beside a painted shutter and string lights

Brunswick East opened in 2015 in Dalston, brought to East London by two sisters, Shaunae and Natasha, with Australian cafe culture in mind. It sits in Stamford Works on Gillett Street, by Gillett Square, and describes its offer as brunch, speciality coffee and bakery, all under one roof.

The bakehouse runs alongside the kitchen, and up on the roof there is Sky Farm, an urban farm that is part of the story of the place. Tables can be booked ahead through the website, and the cafe runs events too. It is open seven days a week, from half past eight to four on weekdays and from nine to five at weekends, so it is a daytime brunch stop more than a late coffee run.
