Attendant Coffee Roasters Fitzrovia

The ornate green cast iron railings of the old Victorian toilet that is now Attendant, with its hanging signs on a sunlit Foley Street

Attendant is the coffee bar in a former Victorian gentlemen's public toilet, built around 1890 and left unused for decades before it reopened as a cafe in 2013 on the corner of Foley Street and Great Titchfield Street. You go down a black metal staircase into a small tiled room, where the original Doulton urinals have been polished up and turned into seating, and a marble counter runs through the space.

Attendant has since grown into a roaster of its own, and the coffee here is roasted in London, with seasonal espresso blends and single origin filters, brewed as espresso and through V60 and AeroPress. Every Attendant cafe welcomes pets, seating is limited to a few tables and counter spots, and service is first come, first served with no reservations, so it suits a quick stop.
