Amoret Coffee

Amoret started as a small shop in Hammersmith before its owner opened a second location on Pembridge Road, just off Portobello Road, and installed a roaster to start roasting single origin coffee on site rather than buying it in. Every lot is cupped and scored to Specialty Coffee Association protocols before it makes the list, and the shop states plainly that it would rather drop a coffee than keep selling one that slips below an 83 point standard, even a bestseller.
The sourcing philosophy carries the same directness: farmers are paid above Fairtrade rates, and every bag on the shelf is traceable back to a named farm or cooperative. There is little in the way of seating, a small green fronted shop built more for a takeaway pour over or bag of beans on the way through Notting Hill than a long sit down, but the coffee itself has built a following on word of mouth rather than press.
