Grain

The rounded cream Grain lettering on the shop window, with fairy lights, a poinsettia in a grey pot, a stack of newspapers on a plywood counter and a yellow framed shelf in the room beyond

Grain is a small coffee shop and brunch room on Rue Saint-Rémy, one of the prettier lanes in the centre of Liège. Alexandra opened it as a place where careful coffee and proper food sit side by side, with filter coffee brewed slowly and a drinks list that goes well beyond the espresso basics, including plant based milk.

The room is warm and intimate, with a glass door at the entrance and a neon mirror in the dining room that reads "no one hugs you like a coffee". It is a place where people settle in for a long breakfast, brunch or lunch, with plenty of time to linger over a cup.
