The Unir Coffee Senses

The Unir Coffee Senses is the Kyoto city cafe of the Unir roasting company, set in a building more than a century old that is designated a Kyoto City Traditional Structure, on Masuyacho in Higashiyama. The second floor cafe has thirty six seats, and a separate counter room with six seats can be booked in advance for a longer tasting.

Unir buys directly from producers and roasts the coffee itself, with single origins from Honduras and Ethiopia roasted to a medium level. Unir's Tomoko Yamamoto won the Japan Barista Championship in 2018. Espresso drinks, filter coffee and the house Blend of Coffee Senses are served, with a decaf Ethiopian bean and desserts alongside.
