Tasuku Coffee

Tasuku Kawai opened this stand on October 1, 2021, on the same short Kita Ward street as Wife & Husband, an entirely separate business a few doors down. Kawai brings a Melbourne influence he picked up working there, visible in a bar built from a construction tarp and seating pieced together from plastic crates, flyers, rocks and other found objects rather than anything polished. The beans come from Wood and Co Coffee, and the signature order is a short black, a small, strong pour served in a smiley faced demitasse.

Milk drinks run on Hida milk from Gifu, alongside soy or Ave Natur oat milk for anyone skipping dairy, and the shop takes a fuller range of card and IC payment than its size would suggest. It is a stand rather than a sit down cafe, built for a quick, strong cup on the way past rather than a long stay.
