Sundays Coffee

The open timber framed entrance of Sundays Coffee in Kyoto, with a barista at a cream plaster counter and espresso machine, a long passage past paper lanterns to a slatted door, and the terracotta Sundays Coffee sign on the white wall

Sundays Coffee sits in a restored machiya on a quiet alley near Karasuma Station and Nishiki Market, with a warm wood counter and natural light. Beans are roasted in house by hand in small batches, with each origin roasted separately.

The menu leans on named single origins from places such as Flores, Chiang Rai, Yunnan and Yirgacheffe, and the team works with farmers who use methods like anaerobic fermentation. Brewing is measured closely, with the grind weighed to a tenth of a gram, water temperature tuned to the degree and the pour timed.
