Camillo Bastrup

The storefront and espresso bar at Camillo Bastrup

The current shop takes its name from Camillo Bastrup, a merchant who imported coffee into the Sorlandet region in the late 1800s and early 1900s and helped start the bakery Dampbageriet in 1862. Today's business, registered in November 2019, sits at the top of Markens gate and shares kitchen ties with that same bakery for its pastries.

Rather than roasting its own beans, the shop runs a rotating multi roaster program pulling from Tim Wendelboe, Sorlandets Kaffebrenneri and Supreme Roastworks. Regulars buy beans by bulk weight to take home, and outdoor seating opens up along Markens gate through the summer months.
