Café Pohovka

Two vintage rust colored armchairs with matching ottomans around a small round table, sunlit by tall windows and surrounded by houseplants

Café Pohovka sits above street level on Tržiště, with a terrace that steps up from the pavement and looks out over the rooftops of central Karlovy Vary. Inside, the small rooms are furnished more like a living room than a café, all soft seating and warm light, which is where the pohovka, meaning sofa, in the name comes from.

The counter turns out cakes made in house, including a well liked honey cake and cheesecake, alongside flat whites, matcha lattes and hot chocolate poured thick enough to eat with a spoon. It closes on Mondays and Tuesdays and keeps the rest of the week to daytime hours, best visited for a slow afternoon on the terrace rather than a quick stop.
