Onward Coffee Company

Otniel Christofer founded Onward Coffee Company in 2020 on Jalan A.M. Sangaji in North Petojo, Central Jakarta, after several years working in coffee and traveling to places where good coffee was simply part of daily life rather than a special occasion. A small retail counter with sand colored tiles and light grey finishes sits up front, opening into a warmer coffee bar with deep wood tones and rough grey walls where the slow bar operates.

The company buys directly from around twenty farmers stretching from Aceh to Papua and has pushed the rare Excelsa variety since 2022, alongside more familiar arabica lots poured as espresso, split shots and manual brew. Seating is limited to a handful of stools at the bar, which keeps the focus on watching the baristas work rather than settling in for a long stay.
