First Crack Coffee

First Crack Coffee opened in 2017 with a roasting facility and training academy built into the same building on Jalan Yos Sudarso in Sunter, North Jakarta, inside the Altira Business Park. The academy runs official Specialty Coffee Association modules for baristas and other coffee professionals, and green beans are hand sorted before roasting on a pair of German built Probatone machines. The name refers to the moment in roasting when beans crack open and release their aroma, the point the company treats as the true start of a coffee's character.

The espresso bar pours flat whites and lattes alongside manual brew from single origin lots such as Java Frinsa, and the kitchen stretches to pasta and cake for people settling in at the business park location for a while. A second, smaller branch on Jalan Bumi in South Jakarta offers the same roasts in a simpler cafe format without the roastery and classroom attached.
