Café Sausalito

The open concrete storefront of Café Sausalito on Tai Nan Street with a steel S sign above, bamboo benches at the door and wooden stools inside

Café Sausalito opened in Sham Shui Po in 2014 and takes its name from the Bay Area town across the Golden Gate Bridge, a nod to the relaxed, sociable space it set out to build on Tai Nan Street. The shopfront is a wide open concrete frame with bamboo benches at the door, wooden stools inside and a bold steel S above, which makes it easy to spot along the block.

It works as a cafe, a micro roaster and a bean supplier in one, roasting in small batches and selling coffees such as a triple anaerobic honey Pink Bourbon from Colombia, a Guji Geisha natural from Ethiopia and a Brazilian Cerrado natural with dark chocolate notes. Each bean can go through the espresso machine or a pour over, and the baristas are happy to talk through the brewing.
