Grandmum Cafe

Le Dan Nha Thi, Vietnam's first AeroPress Champion, runs Grandmum from a quiet Saigon home down an alley off Vo Thi Sau Street, with barista Luu Vi beside her. The cafe is named for childhood afternoons at a grandmother's house, and it feels like one, with a piano, a turntable, art on the walls and low tables beside a pond in the front yard.

The beans come from roasters around the world, including Nordic names such as Apollon's Gold and Tim Wendelboe, roasted light so the filter and AeroPress cups show off East African arabica next to Vietnamese robusta. Thi also guides tastings of several beans side by side, in English and in Vietnamese.
