Black Hat Coffee

Black Hat Coffee began in 2018 as an online roastery and opened its first espresso bar on Eppendorfer Weg in Eimsbüttel in late 2022, giving local drinkers a place to taste the beans in person. Every coffee scores 85 points or higher on the SCA scale, roasted light to medium in Hamburg, and the bar quickly became a neighbourhood favourite.

Behind the counter a glowing hat logo hangs over a wooden La Marzocco, a batch brew and a hand brew menu, and a black and white checkerboard bar fronted by bright red stools. Vinyl plays in the background, and the short food menu leans deli, with babka and a pastrami Reuben as the house specialities. The beans come home in illustrated boxes, and the Eimsbütteler Coffee Club merch has become a neighbourhood badge.
