belum. specialty coffee bar

belum. began in 2021 as a handcrafted lighting brand from founder Clemens Möll, the name a portmanteau of the German words for concrete and light, and the coffee bar grew out of the same Eppendorf showroom as a second venture rather than a separate business. Marcel Lohmann joined in 2023 after stints at Elbgold and Copenhagen Coffee Lab, two of the city's more established specialty names, a hire that pushed the coffee program to match the ambition of the lighting design around it.

The room reads as concrete and light made literal, the brand's own pendant fixtures overhead, a cozy plant filled seating area toward the back, and reportedly the only Tempesta espresso machine running in Hamburg. Coffee rotates through a handful of European roasters, Friedhats in Amsterdam chief among them, alongside natural wine and a short kitchen menu. A smaller sister location, Petit Belum, has since opened in Altona.
