Buna Coffee Roasters

Buna takes its name from the Amharic word for coffee, and the roastery has been part of Graz's coffee scene since 2007, when Susanne Feier and Walter Jauk opened it as a small espresso and juice bar in Eggenberg. The business has moved a few times since then, roasting its own beans in the Puntigam district since 2015 and settling into a dedicated shop of its own on Joanneumring in 2022 after a few years sharing a retail space nearby.

The shop focuses on single origin arabica bought directly and paid well above commodity prices, sold by the bag alongside espresso machines, grinders and other home brewing equipment. Coffee tastings and brewing workshops run on a rotating schedule, and the counter also serves vegan cake alongside the usual espresso based drinks. Buna keeps shorter hours than most cafes in the city, open Wednesday through Saturday only.
