Koffiebranderij Vandekerckhove

Sunlight cutting across a textured concrete wall beside a shelf of pour over brewers, kettles, and grinders at Vandekerckhove

Vandekerckhove has been roasting coffee on Brabantdam since 1854, making it one of the oldest coffee businesses still running in Ghent. The shop is now on its fifth generation, led by Louis Vandekerckhove, and beans are still roasted in house in small batches rather than shipped in from an outside supplier.

Shelves of coffee and tea line the retail side of the space, covering both house blends and single origin lots alongside a large wall of loose leaf tea and a full range of home brewing gear. A coffee bar was added in 2016, giving the shop a place to serve what it sells by the cup as well as by the bag, run today by a barista and tea specialist working alongside the Vandekerckhove family.
