Koffeine

Koffeine sits tucked behind Sint Baafsplein, close enough to Saint Bavo's Cathedral that a few of its window seats look straight out at the towers. Owner Zoran Stankovski has run the bar since it opened, keeping the focus on a short list of well made espresso and filter drinks rather than chasing every new trend to pass through the city.

The industrial interior is built around tall windows and high walls that double as rotating exhibition space for local artists, with home made carrot cake, banana bread and sourdough cinnamon buns filling out the food side of the menu. Organic juices, smoothies, Belgian beers and a small selection of Macedonian wines round out the later hours, and dogs are welcome to join their owners at the tables.
