Birdie Food & Coffee

French transplants Bastien and Florent opened Birdie in November 2014, Florent a former professional snowboarder who had worked as a barista in Geneva and Bastien previously a cook under chef Alain Ducasse. It became one of the first shops to bring genuine third wave coffee culture to the city outside Boréal's orbit, sourcing single origin, fair trade arabica scoring 85 or above from small European roasters rather than roasting in house.
The room splits across a main counter area and an adjoining nook with board games, done in relaxed banquette seating that local coverage credits with launching Geneva's whole trendy cafe scene. The Birdie Breakfast, an egg roll with bacon, granola bowls, and banana bread round out a food menu built around brunch, and the flat white is the pour regulars single out most.
