Hoppenworth & Ploch

Hoppenworth & Ploch has run a cafe on Friedberger Landstraße since 2014, four years after the company opened its first coffee bar on the Campus Westend in 2008. The roasting operation has since moved south to Sachsenhausen, leaving this Nordend room more space for a large shared table, window seats and pavement seating that give it a calmer, more residential feel than the company's Altstadt branch.

Two espresso profiles run side by side every day, one built for a rounder, classic cup and the other fruitier and more origin led, alongside changing hand brewed filters and a Moccamaster batch brew for anyone in a hurry. The house bakery keeps the counter stocked with croissants, cheesecake, matcha cheesecake, chocolate peanut cake and at least one vegan option daily, and the current range of roasted beans is sold by the bag for home brewing. The company also runs cafes at Markt 22 in the Altstadt and on Campus Westend, though this Nordend room carries the clearest link to where the roasting business began.
