Caffetteria Piansa

The busy counter at Caffetteria Piansa in black and white, with hanging industrial lamps, a decorated espresso machine and grinders, and customers queuing at the bar

Caffetteria Piansa is the Via Gioberti coffee bar of Torrefazione Piansa, a Florentine family roasting business that has been roasting just outside the city since the 1980s. Alessandro Staderini opened the bar in 2016 and built its coffee list around a house blend and a rotating line of single origins, with roasts profiled for the way each coffee will be brewed, including V60 and Chemex filter.

Behind the counter is a kitchen in full view, so the bar works for a slow breakfast, a light lunch or an evening aperitivo as easily as for a quick espresso. Beans from the whole Piansa range can be taken home whole or ground on the spot, on a street the neighborhood knows as the road of a hundred workshops.
