Dark Pony Coffee

The bright blue shopfront of Dark Pony Coffee with its hand lettered sign, four arched windows and an open door, with the team and a dog on the bench outside

Dark Pony is a micro roastery and coffee shop at 6 The Moor in Falmouth, started by a small team who first worked together at the Cornish roaster Origin. They source, roast, package and serve their own coffees, buying from selective green importers and aiming to move towards direct trade with producers as they grow. Their roaster is a Diedrich, driven back to Falmouth from central Paris.

Behind a bright blue painted shopfront is a light, uncluttered room with a long wooden counter, a hand drawn mural and a bench out on the pavement. Espresso and filter coffees change with the roasting schedule, and the counter carries cookies and cakes. Retail bags are plastic free, and the shop opens from half past eight on weekdays and nine at weekends.
