BeanBrothers

The industrial roastery cafe interior with exposed brick, hanging plants and a large roaster against a leaf mural, customers seated at communal tables

Arjan van der Hoek started BeanBrothers in 2009 as a mobile coffee bar working festivals, frustrated by the catering coffee on offer, and began roasting his own beans in 2012 once the idea had proven itself. The roastery, Stadsbranderij Eindhoven, works out of a nearly two hundred year old former match storage building, a direct link to the same matchstick era Lucifer Coffee references elsewhere in the city.

Only the top fifteen percent quality grade makes the cut, sourced through direct relationships with farmers across South America and Africa, under a house slogan of Making Bitter Better. BeanBrothers supplies its own beans to other counters around town, Dodo and Koffiehuisje among them, and the tucked away alley location off Bergstraat keeps the bar itself feeling more like a discovery than a destination.
