Edinburgh · New Town, inside Eden Locke Hotel

Mayvn

A cozy corner table at Mayvn with two coffees and pastries, a wicker chair and retail bean bags on a shelf behind

Mayvn occupies the ground floor of the Eden Locke hotel on George Street, in Edinburgh's New Town, a bright room done out in pale green and marble with plants filling the corners and tall windows keeping it lit through the day. The coffee side runs on beans from Common Coffee, a Midlothian roastery based at Rosemains Steading, and the menu stretches from a matcha tonic and standard espresso drinks through breakfast and pastries into a full cocktail list with table service once the day turns to evening.

Dogs are welcome inside, wifi is available for anyone parked at a table with a laptop, and a small amount of outdoor seating opens up on George Street when the weather allows. A sister cafe under the same name operates in London on Pentonville Road.
