The Cosy Bean

Emma and Mark Davy opened The Cosy Bean in September 2020, in the smallest of a row of shopfronts on land tied to Emma's own family, her uncle PV Doyle once ran the club that stood on this Churchtown site. Emma had helped set up coffee shops before and had followed a winding path to get there herself, a tennis scholarship in San Diego, then corporate finance, before coming home to open something small and local during a pandemic that made small and local feel like exactly the point.
The name suits the space, barely bigger than a corner unit, filled with home baked treats, vegan and gluten free options, and a Sunday morning queue for sausage rolls from The Pieman next door. Coffee comes from Roasted Brown in County Wicklow. Dogs are a fixture here, regulars describe it as the neighborhood's new pub, a place to actually run into people.
