3fe

The dark brick 3fe building on Grand Canal Street, outdoor tables out front under a wide blue sky

Colin Harmon trained for barista competitions in his own third floor apartment, which is where 3fe gets its name, and rode that practice to four Irish Barista Championship titles and a fourth place finish at the 2009 World Barista Championship in Atlanta. He opened the first 3fe that same December inside a nightclub lobby on Abbey Street, before this Grand Canal Street address opened in August 2011 as a standalone cafe and training center, now the brand's flagship.

The roasting program followed in 2013, with a dedicated roastery opening in Glasnevin the year after, supplying all eight of the Dublin cafes 3fe now runs along with a training school and an equipment distribution business. Walk ins only, no reservations, a weekly changing food menu alongside the coffee, and a longstanding sideline making the official blends for both Leinster and Irish rugby. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating.
