Grandmother Coffee Roastery

Grandmother has roasted in Al Quoz since 2016, and its white fronted unit in The Shed Warehouse carries the name in stacked black serif letters, with Arabic lettering beside it. The roastery calls itself a micro specialty business where everything is done by hand, from the green coffee it selects to the way each bag is packed.

Batches are roasted on Giesen W6A and W15A machines and cupped and graded every day, and the shelves carry single origins from Colombia, Panama and Yemen. The coffee bar splits its menu into filter, espresso, milk based and signature drinks with a pastry menu alongside, and the team also runs barista training, cupping sessions and roastery visits by arrangement.
