Slow and Steady Coffee

The hand lettered Slow and Steady Coffee sign on the dark porch wall with a banana plant beside the steps

Slow and Steady Coffee occupies a midcentury ranch house in Elmwood, in Oak Cliff, bought by Jael and German Sierra in 2020 and opened in 2023 after years of working through zoning, parking and renovation delays. Half the house is given to brewing and roasting, and the other half is furnished like a living room, with vintage seating, warm wood and large picture windows.

German began roasting in 2016 under the name Graph Coffee and now roasts everything on a customized Probat P12, with an emphasis on transparent sourcing and long relationships with importers. Espresso comes off a La Marzocco Linea PB, and filter coffee is served slowly as pour overs. Tables sit outside beneath the shop's hand lettered sign. It opens early on weekdays and keeps shorter hours on Sunday.
