Houndstooth Coffee (North Henderson)

This was the first Dallas cafe for Houndstooth Coffee, an Austin company founded by Sean Henry, a University of Texas film school graduate who worked behind coffee bars before opening his first shop in 2010. It serves a wide stretch of neighborhoods, from East Dallas and Lakewood to Lower Greenville, the M Streets and SMU, and sees itself as a hub for them.

Every Houndstooth cafe pours Tweed coffee, roasted by a sibling company that Henry started in 2013 with lead roaster Jonathan Aldrich and built around balance between acidity and body. The menu covers espresso drinks and cold brew, and the company also serves tea, beer, wine and pastries. Coffee is available to take home from the Houndstooth shop, and the cafe is open every day from seven until five.
