Davis Street Espresso

Davis Street Espresso is the coffee shop of Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters, the company Shannon and Jenni Neffendorf began in 2008, selling a first batch roasted in their garage. Shannon had been inspired by an espresso he tasted on a trip to Milan, and in 2010 they bought a former auto shop in the neighborhood, where the roasting still happens at the back of the shop, a few steps from the register.

Oak Cliff Coffee was an early adopter of roast dates on bags sold in Dallas grocery stores, and the coffee is roasted in small batches and sealed in one way valve bags as soon as it cools. The same family business, CliffMade, makes chocolate and bread, and the shop makes jam, butter, yogurt, pastries and granola in house. It opens at six on weekdays and is closed on Sundays.
