The Deep Ellum shop of The Berni Bean Coffee Co brings a Costa Rican family's coffee to Elm Street. Giuliana and Stefano Bernini come from a family that has been in coffee for generations, and the company sources from growing regions across Costa Rica, choosing lots for quality and for the honey toned sweetness that slow drying gives them.

Drinks run from cafe con leche to tropical lattes and seasonal specials, with bagel and croissant sandwiches alongside, and the room nods to rainforest lushness. The coffee is roasted in Austin by a partner roaster and sold in bags to take home. The shop opens at eight every morning, a half hour later at weekends, and closes at four in the afternoon.
