Sonny

Black and white view through Sonny's curtained storefront window, showing Fritz Hansen Ant chairs and a marble cafe table inside

Sonny grew out of time its founder spent behind the bar at Coutume in Paris, and the Frederiksberg branch of the café that followed carries that French inflection into a very Copenhagen daytime routine. Coffee comes from La Cabra, built around a signature Brazilian natural blend alongside rotating single origin guest coffees, but the room doesn't stop at coffee: a short wine list and a kitchen that keeps running well past the espresso rush both play an equal part in a visit.

Breakfast, porridge, and rye bread sandwiches carry the daytime menu, with cakes baked in house for the afternoon crowd. Outdoor tables along the tree lined avenue fill fast whenever the weather cooperates, and the plant filled room behind the curtained windows leans toward a slow, unhurried version of café culture rather than a quick counter stop.
