Copenhagen · Nordvest
Kaffedepartementet

A working roastery in Nordvest, a part of Copenhagen far more industrial than its café scene usually reaches, roasting and cupping every bag on site rather than sending production elsewhere. The shop buys from single farms and single harvests only, refusing to blend across origins or crop years to stretch a batch further, so a bag of Kenyan or Ethiopian coffee here means exactly that: one farm, one picking, nothing smoothed over by a supporting cast of other lots.
The café side spreads across several rooms in a converted industrial building, with a garden that fills up whenever the weather allows it. Filter and espresso both get equal billing on the light to medium end of the roast spectrum, and the kitchen turns out its own pastries alongside the cups, worth the trip out from the city center on its own even before the coffee is factored in.
