Schamong Kaffee

Schamong Kaffee has operated from the same address on Venloer Strasse in Ehrenfeld since 1949, making it the oldest roastery still running in Cologne. A vintage Probat drum turns behind the counter, and the gold lettered storefront with red framed windows has barely changed across three generations of the Schamong family.

Coffee is roasted in small batches ranging from classic dark Italian styles to lighter, modern profiles, with origins spanning Tanzania, Ethiopia, Colombia and Brazil sold both by the cup and by the bag. Seating is limited to a handful of spots inside and out, so most visitors stop in for a quick espresso or to stock up on beans rather than settle in for the afternoon.
