ERNST Kaffeeröster

Two black mugs of latte art coffee held up close to camera with a roastery counter, grinders and green chalkboard menu blurred in the background

ERNST Kaffeeröster occupies a pared back corner of Bonner Strasse in the Südstadt, a neighborhood roastery with white walls, exposed pendant lights and a green chalkboard menu behind the bar. Two espresso machines and grinders sit in full view of the counter, and the house blend gets poured into small black mugs with a heavy handed pour of latte art.

Beans are roasted under the ERNST name and sold by the bag alongside merchandise built around the shop's conscious coffee culture branding. The kitchen turns out cakes, granola bowls and open faced sandwiches through the day, and the Bonner Strasse bar keeps to early evening hours all week, with a second, newer location open in Sülz.
