The Wormhole Coffee

The Wormhole is a long running Wicker Park fixture on North Milwaukee Avenue, a coffeehouse with a love of the 1980s, from a DeLorean parked inside to old school Nintendo consoles and Gremlins memorabilia. For more than a decade it has been one of the neighborhood's best known places to meet, and it serves the coffee of its sister company, Halfwit Coffee Roasters.

The bar pours espresso drinks and filter coffee from Halfwit's roasts, with baristas the shop likes to call the hottest in the Midwest, and the same roaster's whole beans are sold as a coffee market on the shelves. The shop opens at seven on weekdays and eight on weekends and stays open until seven in the evening, which makes it a good stop whether you are heading out early or winding down a Wicker Park afternoon.
