Necessary & Sufficient Coffee

Necessary & Sufficient Coffee began in 2019 as a project rooted in art and social change, when working artist Kate Vrijmoet opened a take out window on a quiet commercial block of Logan Square, with an art studio running at the back. Within four years six more businesses had opened on the same block, and in 2023 a second, sit down cafe followed in Printers Row.
The Wrightwood Avenue window is the original, a small walk up counter designed for a daily ritual, serving espresso drinks, filter coffee, single origin pour over and cold brew with a short seasonal food menu. The coffee comes from Olympia Coffee Roasting, and both cafes run on a zero waste model with compostable cups. The window is open from seven to three on weekdays and from eight to three on weekends.
