Four Letter Word Coffee

Four Letter Word is a specialty roaster that began in 2014 on the island of Burgazada, off Istanbul, and now works between Turkey and Chicago. The cafe on West Diversey Avenue, on the line between Avondale and Logan Square, is its Chicago shop, opened in 2018, and the coffee poured here is roasted by the same small company.

The offer is a tight lineup of seasonal coffees, teas and pastries, served in an easy, unhurried room that keeps the attention on the cup. Next door sits its sister bookshop, Four Letter Books, which makes the block a good place to linger over a book as well as a drink. The shop opens at eight and closes at two every day of the week.
