Afro Joe's Coffee & Tea

Afro Joe's Coffee & Tea has served Beverly from West 99th Street since 2020, a South Side cafe in a former garden store that grew out of its owners' love of their neighborhood and of great tasting coffee. Its motto is simple, quality service and quality coffee, and its hashtag invites everyone to come through for a cup.

The compact coffee bar, built around an Astoria espresso machine, leads into an indoor and outdoor courtyard that fills up on nice days, and the kitchen turns out food alongside the drinks. The calendar is busy, with open mic nights, bourbon, beer and cigar evenings and events for the neighborhood, and coffee and merchandise can be bought from its online shop. Weekday hours run from seven to two, with shorter weekends.
