Truth Coffee Roasting

Truth is the Cape Town roastery that became a pilgrimage site, a century old warehouse on Buitenkant Street turned into a steampunk fantasy by designer Haldane Martin, with leather clad counters, pressed tin ceiling panels and a Daily Telegraph title as the best coffee shop in the world. It was co founded by Andrzej Janik and David Donde, early pioneers of specialty coffee in the city, and coffee is still roasted in the building today.

The centrepiece is Colossus, a 1947 Probat roaster that runs on biodiesel, next to a contraption called Professor Jones that blends much of the coffee roasted in the building. The house style leans toward bold, full flavoured blends with names like Resurrection, Antithesis and Relativity, alongside single origin releases, and the roastery also runs a barista academy and training courses from the same address.
