Origin Coffee Roasting

Origin is widely credited as the roastery that started Cape Town's specialty coffee movement, and it has been roasting out of a working warehouse on Hudson Street in De Waterkant for twenty years. Founder Joel Singer built it around the idea that South Africans deserved coffee that was sourced, roasted and poured with the same care as the best in the world, and the roastery's barista academy has since trained thousands of baristas and produced several national champions.

The flagship cafe is a showcase for a constantly changing list of coffees, with a strong lean toward African origins, brewed across the widest range of methods: espresso, Hario V60, Chemex, siphon, Aeropress, plunger and even Turkish. Leaf teas from Nigiro Tea Merchants, an all day food menu and a bakery sit alongside, and whole beans plus brewing gear are on sale for taking the experience home.
