Recess Coffee

Recess Coffee opened in the Griffith shops in 2024, a joint project between hospitality veteran Anthony Iannelli and roaster Scott Brewer, who learned to roast at Barrio Collective before striking out with his own beans under the Recess label. The fit out leans into a retro diner mood, aqua booths, chrome trim, and butter yellow tabletops built from recycled plastic, with a turntable and record collection doing quiet work at the front counter.

The kitchen turns out a full breakfast and lunch menu alongside the coffee, and a small retail corner by the door sells the house roasted beans along with matcha, records, and the odd magazine. Vinyl spins most days over a custom built sound system, giving the room a warmer, slower feel than its shopping strip location might suggest.
