The Cupping Room

Storefront of The Cupping Room on University Avenue, timber framed windows and door with the shop name lettered on the glass, a staff member back-turned holding the door open

Tucked into a ground floor unit on University Avenue, The Cupping Room is the city cafe arm of ONA Coffee, built around the same beans that carried the brand to international competition wins. The name is literal, since this is where ONA runs public cupping sessions, tasting coffee side by side to compare origin, process, and roast in a way most cafes leave behind closed doors.

Beyond the cupping table it runs as a full brunch cafe, busy from opening through the lunch rush most days of the week, including public holidays. A covered outdoor section at the front is set aside for customers with dogs, water bowl included, while the indoor room keeps the exposed rafters and timber fit out that give it its warmth.
