Good Trade Co.

Good Trade Co. grew out of nearly a decade of poverty alleviation work in Colombia before its founders decided a coffee shop could fund that work directly, opening this Kensington cafe in December 2019 after first testing the coffee at the Crossroads Farmers Market. Every bag sold here comes from Colombian growers the company partners with directly, a deliberate choice given how much of that country's coffee farming population lives below the poverty line, with a share of profits going back into financial literacy and farming education programs at origin.
The Kensington space is small and light filled, big windows facing the street, with batch brew and pour over both on the counter alongside the espresso menu and a rotating oat and almond milk selection. Bags of the current Colombian lots sit out for anyone who wants to take that origin story home with their coffee, and the room tends to fill with laptops and long conversations through the slower parts of the day.
