Negro Suipacha
Fernando Lozano and María Conte opened Negro on Suipacha in 2015, the first specialty coffee bar in Buenos Aires's Microcentro. Their idea was to keep the café classics people already order, only made with traceable, carefully extracted coffee, so anyone can walk in without needing a lesson and still leave with a better cup. It has since grown into a small family of cafés and a barista school, Negro Escuela, that began in 2016.
The beans come from Fuego Tostadores, the roastery the same couple founded in Colegiales, on the site of a family coffee business that dated back to 1940, which roasts microlots from Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia and Peru and supplies hundreds of cafés around Argentina. The Suipacha counter keeps office hours, open on weekdays from breakfast to mid afternoon, and in 2026 Negro was named among The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops for the second year running.
