Madal Café

Madal opened in May 2013 as one of Budapest's first specialty coffee shops, its name borrowed from the childhood nickname of the Indian spiritual teacher Sri Chinmoy, whose artwork decorates the walls. The shop began roasting its own coffee the following year under the house labels Beyond Within and Beanlight, now sent out fresh every week through its own webshop alongside the four cafes it supplies.

The Hollán Ernő location pairs a wood laden, warmly lit room with an underground seating area added in 2017, styled like a living room for colder months, plus an outdoor terrace in summer. A training arm, Campus Specialty Coffee Academy, has run barista courses from the space since 2016, and the shop's own AeroPress team took first and second place at the 2015 Hungary AeroPress Championship. Dogs are welcome, and beans are sold by the bag alongside the daily espresso and filter menu.
