Budapest Baristas

Friends sharing brunch and drinks at an outdoor table at Budapest Baristas

Bence Dávid opened Budapest Baristas in April 2015, the ninth specialty coffee shop to open in Hungary, after several years pulling shots in Budapest and a stint learning the craft further at Berlin's Barn and 19grams. He deliberately wanted the city's own name in the brand itself.

The Múzeum körút room, on what locals call the Kiskörút, occupies a former secondhand bookshop chosen for its tall windows and gallery level, the upper floor giving a view down over the espresso bar below. A trip to Dublin the year after opening pushed the menu toward a full breakfast and brunch service alongside the coffee, including a matcha latte made with organic Japanese matcha. A second location opened on the Buda side, on Kacsa utca, in October 2021.
