Blue Bird Roastery

Blue Bird opened in 2013 on Rumbach Sebestyén utca, facing the arches of the Rumbach Street Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter. The shop hand roasts its own beans on the premises and keeps more than a dozen origins in rotation, sold by the bag in 250 gram, 500 gram, and 1000 gram sizes alongside a daily espresso and filter menu, and coffee even turns up as an ingredient in the shop's own house beer.
The room leans into a bright, plant covered decor built around strings of hanging birdcage lights and paintings inspired by Frida Kahlo, one table styled after her self portraits and another after the Mona Lisa. A mezzanine level looks down over the espresso bar, outdoor tables line the street in warmer months, and the cafe welcomes kids throughout the day. A second Blue Bird location now runs a short walk away inside the Gozsdu udvar passage.
