Origo

Origo opened in 2013 on a busy Lipscani pedestrian street, founded by Mihai Panfil with the explicit goal of putting Romania on the coffee map and making the whole process, from bean to cup, transparent to customers. It's widely regarded as the city's original third wave pioneer, the shop that set the template before Bucharest's specialty scene had much of a template to follow.

Filter runs through AeroPress, syphon, and V60 alongside the espresso program, and the room leans minimalist, reportedly decorating with a run of repurposed Hario V60 brewers rather than typical cafe furnishings. An in house roastery followed in 2015, and coffee cocktails joined the menu in 2017, both steps that turned a single Old Town counter into a fuller specialty operation.
